Some venues are thousands of square foot with modern accents, white walls, and crystal chandeliers. Some venues are filled with white sands, tiki torches, and the ever-so soothing sound of crashing waves. But this little wooden church, nestled in the hills of Konnarock, Virginia, is definitely the perfect venue for a small, intimate wedding. Complimented with the fall season leaves, a historic, rustic wood structure, and all the feels.
Back in May, Danielle reached out looking for a wedding photographer. After speaking about her special day back-and-forth, she sent me a photo of her venue and I was in love. I definitely have a weakness for mountains, beaches, and special little unique gems hidden on this beautiful earth we call home. The church itself, erected in 1945, had some fire damage in 2006 that was luckily repaired.
We met at Roan Mountain to capture their happy engagement back in August. Now, weeks later, Danielle and Kenneth’s close family and friends gathered to celebrate their union along with them and their baby boy. A small, intimate wedding full of gorgeous people, and cupcakes…delicious cupcakes from the popular Blackbird Bakery in bristol.
Blessed with a gorgeous, fall afternoon warm enough to keep us toasty, but windy enough to have the leaves fluttering all around, the Penningtons are ready to take on life, as a happily married couple.
cheers to the happy couple
